  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Inst. (Japan)

Description

A computerized support system for the Emergency Technical Advisory Body (ETAB) in Japan (COSTA) has been developed at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) under the auspices of Science and Technology Agency of Japan to provide a national capability in emergency response to radiological accidents. The COSTA system is to support ETAB's activities to provide technical advice to the national government in an emergency. For the past three years since 1985 the prototype system had been under development for BWR's with Mark I containment. Information management programs, several databases and hardware systems form a rapid response capability. This paper describes the major components of this computerized system and their developmental status
