Ion trapping and its clearing in low-emittance storage ring
Description
In this paper mechanism and clearing of ion trapping in low-emittance storage ring are studied by simulations. One dimensional linear/nonlinear results reveal the relationship between the mass bands and the bunch-filling pattern. Electric field of about 8 kV/m DC with 1 kV/m AC component clears them out in this one dimensional model. Two dimensional simulation has been done by assuming the electric potential from the Gaussian beam density. The stability of an ion is highly dependent on the initial position where the ion is created. Clearing field of about 800 V/m DC is enough for two dimensional model
