Electron spin resonance studies of electron irradiated diamond

Description

Defects formed in type IIa diamond by electron irradiation and heat treatment have been studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) and optical absorption measurement. Some progress has been made in analysing the very complex ESR spectrum normally produced in irradiated diamond. The R3 lines have been accurately analysed, and two new sets of lines (R13 and R14) have been identified. The main experiment undertaken was to measure the ESR and optical absorption of a room temperature irradiated stone after a series of isochronal anneals up to 1923 K. (author)
