Recent experiences in the ultrasonic examination of austenitic steel components
- 1. Kraftwerk Union, F. R. (Germany)
Description
Using two examples, the authors show that, as it is necessary to demonstrate the suitability of ultrasonic examination of welds in every single case, such a demonstration may require costly examination programs. In the first example, they report the investigation of the effect of the welding parameters on the ultrasonic examination of 25 mm thick plates in niobium-stabilised austenite. In the second one, they discuss the suitability of ultrasonic examination in the case of austenitic pipe welds
