S-PRIME cesium reservoir design and modeling
Description
An integral cesium-intercalated graphite reservoir was designed for the S-PRIME thermionic power system. One reservoir is built into each TFE string and cesiates six diodes. Half of the reservoirs will lie at the NaK inlet end of the core and half at the outlet end. The two types of reservoir will operated at different temperatures and cesium loading. Computer thermal modeling of the thermionic cell led to the design of the thermal coupling to achieve the proper temperature in each thermal environment. The two reservoir types vary physically only in the length of the trilayer which bonds them to the NaK-cooled sheath tube
