Interaction of radio-galaxy jets with the ambient gas
Description
A model is examined for a conical, supersonic gas jet interacting with undisturbed external gas. Equations are obtained to describe the jet braking distance and the motion of the radio-emitting lobes that would fill with decelerated jet material. Comparison of the theory against observations of several radio galaxies yield some constraints on the jet parameters. 23 references
