Radiation aging of cables under NPP-conditions
Description
Several different types of cables (various insulation-and jacket-materials) were exposed to two different radiation-fields up to five years now: Inside the containment of a NPP (PWR) at a dose-rate of approx. 0.8 Gy/h and at a temperature of 50 - 70 deg. C; Co-60-source beginning with a dose-rate of approx. 1.3 Gy/h decreasing to approx. 0.7 Gy/h within five years and a temperature of 20 - 25 deg. C. Samples were removed once a year. The authors measured mechanical (elongation, tensile strength) and electrical (insulation resistance) properties. These results are compared with those of accelerated radiation-aged samples
