Description
The order parameter of the Schwinger model is calculated in the euclidean functional integral approach. It is shown that the symmetry breaking angle THETA is intimately connected with the boundary condition imposed on the fermions. The transition to the euclidean description involves both imaginary time and imaginary THETA. (orig.)
