Solvent extraction of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Th(IV) with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-p-nitrobenzoyl-5-pyrazolone

Description
Solvent extraction behaviour of copper(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and thorium(IV) with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-p-nitrobenzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMNP) has been studied. Extraction constants in each system have been calculated and compared with those of the corresponding systems using 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP) and thenoyl trifluoroacetylacetone (HTTA). It is found that, in general, PMNP extracts these metals better than PMBP and HTTA. Solid complexes of these metals with PMNP have been isolated and analysed. (author)
