Description
The critical current density of top-seeding, melt-textured-grown, YBa2Cu3O7-δ ceramics degrades with time in water. This paper investigates the process occurring, leading to this degradation, by combining analysis of the solid samples (by x-ray diffraction, energy dispersive spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) and analysis of the solutions (by atomic absorption). The solubilization of barium and the increase of pH of the solutions with time lead to the proposition of a reaction model. (author)
