Ion acoustic instability mechanism in the outer auroral ionosphere

Description
Numerical simulation of auroral ionosphere was conducted with account of its ohmic heating by longitudinal current. It was shown that non-iso-thermal region, where intensive generation of ionic sound by current was possible, occurred at ∼ 500 km heights. 13 refs., 4 figs
