On the spectra of YCl molecule
Description
The emission spectrum of YCl molecule has been re-investigated in the spectral region λ λ 3545-4825 A and λ λ 5950-6700 A using high temperature vacuum graphite furnace. The spectrum has been photographed at a reciprocal liner dispersion of 3.5 A/mm at about a temperature of 2200degC in an atmosphere of argon. The study reveals the presence of a single system of bands in ultraviolet region but two system of bands in the blue violet region. The Janney's system (λλ 6300-6930 A) was also found to extend in lower region upto λ 5950 A. The analysis was confirmed by the presence of isotope effect for Y35Cl and Y37Cl in the bands of C-X, D-X and F-X systems. (author). 8 refs., 3 figs., 3 tabs
