Description

It has been recognized for some time that there are particular difficulties in setting up and applying radiological protection principles to the disposal of long-lived solid radioactive wastes. Problems arise because the events and processes which could lead to the exposure of individuals in the future have probabilities associated with them. In an attempt to aid in the interpretation of existing international advice, the UK National Radiological Protection Board is issuing new guidance on radiological protection criteria for solid waste disposal. In this paper aspects of this new guidance are described
