Preliminary design study of a PWT linac as a buncher and accelerator

  • 1. Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

A long pulse (10μs) electron beam from a thermionic gun through a plane wave transformer (PWT) linac structure is simulated using PARMELA to get maximum bunching and minimum energy spread enabling further acceleration. Simulations revealed bunching of ∼23% electrons with ∼2.5A peak current, ∼1.5% energy spread and ∼10 MeV energy gain
