Diffusion processes in titanium-iron and titanium-iron-carbon systems

  • 1. Tol'yattinskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Mutual diffusion in titanium-iron and titanium-iron-carbon systems was investigated. The diffusion parameters are obtained for these systems. The effect is demonstrated of carbon, aluminium, vanadium, and zirconium impurities on mutual diffusion of titanium and iron. Empirical equations are obtained for determining the effective diffusion coefficients in the titanium-iron-carbon system. Due to the formation of excess vacancies in the boundary layer the coefficient of diffusion of titanium in iron is in this case one order higher than for diffusion of the radioactive isotope 44Ti from a depleting source
