Ex-core instrumentation system for the detection of flux perturbations in pebble-bed HTGRs

  • 1. Kernforschungsanlage Juelich G.m.b.H. (Germany, F.R.)

Description

A description is given of an ex-core instrumentation system for the detection of flux perturbations in pebble-bed HTGRs. The system consists of three parts: fast fission chambers in the top reflector for measuring the fast neutron flux distribution, self powered neutron detectors in the radial reflector for thermal flux mapping and thermocouples in the bottom reflector for measuring the profile of the outlet gas temperature.
