Superconductivity at high pressures in graphite intercalation compounds

  • 1. Kentucky Univ., Lexington (USA). Dept. of Physics and Astronomy

Description

Recent measurements of the pressure dependence of the superconducting transition temperatures of KHgC4, KHgC8, KC8 and KC24 graphite intercalation compounds are summarized and discussed over the pressure range 0-20 kbar. The role of high pressure as a useful tool in exploring the phase stability, superconductivity, and other physical properties of these materials is emphasized, and possible directions for further research on these compounds are indicated.
