Magnetoelastic distortions of rare earth ferrite garnet crystalline structure
Description
The X-ray method is used to study spontaneous magnetoelastic distortions of rare earth ferrite garnet (FG) crystalline structure R3Fe5O12 (R=Ho, Sm, Dy) at low temperatures, where Sm3Fe5O12 and Dy3Fe5O12 experience spin-re-orientation (SR) transitions. The distortion parameters of these FG in the 5.5-30 K temperature range have been found and magnetoelastic constants calculated. The comparison of the results obtained with the magnetic measurement data shows that if in Ho3Fe5O12 and Sm3Fe5O12 the magnetostriction is described in the framework of two constants, in Dy3Fe5O12 expansion in directing cosines is inapplicable
