Scintillation mechanism in NaI-Tl

Description
Scintillation mechanism in NaI-Tl (Tl+ concentration -2x1018CM-3) was studied. Activator luminescence (λmax=420nm) was excited by 450 keV electron pulses. Luminescence kinetics of NaI-Tl in λmax=420nm band at 300K was investigated. It is shown that at 300K about 60% of scintillation burst luminosity is conditioned by thermally activated processes, and 40% - by fast energy transfer with participation of nonrelaxed electrons and holes
