Quark production rule in e+e-→two jets
Description
Using the advantage that, in heavy-quark jets produced in e+e- annihilations at high energies, the quarks produced by electromagnetic excitation can be distinguished from those produced in the strong interactions, we investigate the quark production rules in these two different quark production processes phenomenologically. It is found that the average number of qq-bar pairs produced in the strong interaction satisfy a simple universal rule. The predicted average numbers of various hadrons, average charged multiplicities for charm-quark-jet, bottom-quark-jet, and average jet events, and their energy dependences are all consistent with the available data
