Preventive testing and leakage detection in pipe-lines of steam condensers and generators of a PWR type reactor
Description
The non-destructive methods: Spum, Helium and Hydrostatic used in leakage detection in condenser pipelines for PWR type reactors are presented. The time, costs, sensitivity, resources necessary and personnel development factors are considered to choose adequated method, in function of nuclear power plant conditions. The leakage tests are applied in pressurized systems or vacuum. Eddy Current testing is used in condensers and steam generators aiming to avoid leakage in these equipments. The spume testing for leakage detection in condenser pipelines - which operation - and hydrostatic testing for leakage detection through reaming with shutdown - were most efficients. The Helium testing applied in pressurized systems or submitted to vacuum systems presented satisfactory results. The Eddy Current testing in condenser and steam generator pipelines reached desired objective, reducing leakage in the first and preserving the integrity in the second. (M.C.K.)

Os metodos nao destrutivos: Espuma, Helio e Hidrostatico sao utilizados na detecao de vazamentos em tubos de Condensadores de uma Usina Nuclear do tipo PWR. Os fatores tempo, custo, sensibilidade, eficacia, recursos necessarios e desenvolvimento de pessoal sao considerados na escolha do metodo adequado, em funcao das condicoes da Usina. Os testes de vazamento sao tambem aplicados em sistemas pressurizados ou sob vacuo. Emprega-se o Teste de Eddy Current de forma preditiva nos Condensadores e Geradores de Vapor, com o objetivo de evitar a ocorrencia de vazamentos nesses equipamentos. Os testes de Espuma, para detecao de vazamentos nos tubos dos Condensadores - com a Usina em operacao - e Hidrostatico para detecao de vazamentos pela mandrilagem - com a Unidade parada - mostraram-se os mais efetivos. O teste de Helio aplicado em sistemas pressurizados ou sob vacuo apresentou resultados plenamente satisfatorios. O teste de Eddy Current nos tubos dos Condensadores e Geradores de vapor atingiu os objetivos desejados, reduzindo a ocorrencia de vazamentos no primeiro e preservando a integridade do segundo.
