Perchlorate- and iodate-ions adsorption on polycrystalline cadmium electrode

Description

By measuring C,E-, R,E- and I,E-curves electrochemical properties of phase interfaces: polycrystalline Cd-electrode/aqueous solutions containing F-, ClO4- and IO3-anions, are studied; the results obtained are compared to similar results for polycrystalline Ag-electrodes. It is shown that in solutions with minor RIO3 additions in the area of potentials close to cadmium zero-charge potential (ZCP) notable cathode currents related with IO3-anion electroreduction, pass. C,E-curve minimum depth in the electrode ZCP area reduces gradually with KIO3 concentration growth, and the minimum itself is shifted in the direction of negative potentials. All this as well as the growth of capacity values under potentials more positive than C,E-curve minimum with IO3-concentration increase, point out to the presence of specific anion adsorption
