Description

Effect of an external magnetic field on the process of autoelectron emission (AEE) transformation into explosive emission (EE) has been studied. Stability of the current-voltage characteristics of spike cathodes in the process of EE in a single and frequency regimes is investigated. It is shown that the stability of autoelectron emitters operation decreases when the external magnetic field is applied. The mass of substance carried away as a result of spike cathode explosion depends but slightly on their initial temperature T0. The EE current stability of spike cathodes at T0=4.2 K increases sharply as soon as the threshold value of voltage pulse amplitude is exceeded. When the external magnetic field is applied the EE current stability increases but has an oscillatory character. Cathodes based on EE can be used to obtain pulse electron beams with a high frequency of sequence
