Shielding of organs lying inside the treatment volume in cobalt 60 radiotherapy
Description
In megavoltage therapy the shadow method of ocular protection is used in most cases. Measurements have been carried out to investigate the influence of the distance between the block and the patient on the surface doses and the dose levels at different depths, using a Mobaltron 80 60Cobalt machine and a phantom. It is concluded that the shielding should be placed as near the patient as possible. (JIW)
