Description
The effects of processing, heat-treatment temperature, and method of starting-powder preparation on the critical current densities (Jcs) of Ag-sheathed Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O wires and tapes were studied. The processing and heat-treatment temperatures had a significant effect on Jc. At optimum heat-treatment temperatures and in magnetic fields, the Jc behavior of tapes was affected somewhat by the starting-powder preparation. At 77 K and 0 T, the best Jc value was more than 1.3 x 104 A/cm2. the relationship between microstructure and Jc is briefly discussed
