Observation of soft x-ray sources by 'Hakucho' VSX
Description
The data obtained by 'Hakucho' VSX were analyzed. The data were obtained by the P-3 counter which was set in the direction of the spin axis of the satellite. The field of view of the counter was 6.3 degree by 2.9 degree at FWHM. The observed region was the south of the galactic center, and included the region between lambda Sco and NGC 6624. The effect of low energy electrons was considered. The effect was estimated to be 30 percent at maximum and 10 percent at the average value. The diffuse X-ray background has an origin in the galactic system. Most of the component of L-band X-ray can be explained by the position of the sun surrounded by hot plasma. The M-band X-ray came from a number of strong origins. The LOOP I (North Polar Spur) is the most remarkable one, and a giant Supernova shell. The amount of neutral hydrogen was obtained from the colour excess of globular cluster. Excluding the diffuse background, there were four origins of soft X-ray. Those are an origin observed above 0.5 KeV, a Supernova remnant between 0.1 and 2 KeV, hot white dwarf and cataclysmic variable stars with energy less than 0.3 KeV, and ultraviolet ray from early type stars. It is unknown whether these origins of X-ray are transient or not. (Kato, T.)
