A neutron physics analysis for the experimental facility LOTUS
Description
Neutron spectra calculations have been performed for some potential hybrid and pure fusion blanket configurations of the experimental research installation LOTUS now under construction at the Laboratory of the Reactor Physics of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. The neutron spectra of the LOTUS-blankets are harder due to the vacuum left boundary condition, than those of the blankets of same dimensions and material compositions of a real fusion reactor with the reflecting left boundary condition on the plasma side. It turns out that LOTUS-blankets with a lead of beryllium multiplier have a similar neutron spectrum at higher energies. (orig.)
