Description

Our industrial society produces a variety of waste products, of which the radioactive wastes obtained from nuclear power plants are the most controversial. The research that has been conducted in this field has unquestionably led to a knowledge on how best to dispose of these nuclear wastes. Most other industrial wastes are still being managed and disposed of by means of methods that should have been relegated to history long ago. In contrast, the Monofill method employs the same basic approach as that used for treating radioactive wastes, which entails that the life of the entire disposal facility shall be predictable. (au)
