General memorandum of evidence to the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution

Description

In the course of an enquiry by the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution into the organisation for radiological safety in the United Kingdom, evidence was given by the National Radiological Protection Board. The 'general memorandum of evidence' covers the following matters: constitution, functions and responsibilities of the Board; a short statement of the various sources of radiation to which the people of the United Kingdom are exposed; methods by which the basic recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection are translated into values that can be applied to particular forms of practice; radioactive wastes; radiological problems in the protection of persons exposed to plutonium; transport of radioactive materials.
