Description

The effect of ordering of localized magnetic impurities (LMI) in an insulating intercalation on the stationary Josephson effect is investigated using a microscopic Hamiltonian. A formula is obtained for the Josephson current in the region V2/sub S/theta2<<V2/sub N/ [1--0 (v/sub F/ V-1/sub N/)]; the condition (V2/sub S/theta2)/sub cr/ = V2/sub N/+v2/sub F/ for the Josephson current to vanish due to scattering of Cooper pairs by LMI in the region of the barrier is established. The behavior of the Josephson current at the barrier j(0) as a function of V2/sub S/theta2 is predicted, it is shown that it is related to the competition between two physical effects in the region 0< or =V2/sub S/theta2< or =V2/sub N/+v2/sub F/: ''transillumination'' of the potential barrier and suppression of the order parameter in the region of the barrier due to scattering by LMI
