Instrument to determine the dose equivalent or dose rate equivalent of neutrons
Description
The instrument to determine the dose equivalent (Rem counter) or dose rate equivalent of neutrons consists of a detector (3He counter tube), with an absorber layer coated on it (cadmium) and an outer moderator layer (polyethylene with a wall thickness between 3.81cm and 5.08cm). The detector is connected with a voltage discriminator via pre- and main amplifier. Its voltage threshold is near 825 keV. If the detector has only the cadmium layer on one side, it may be used also as albedo personnel dosemeter. (DG)

Das Geraet zur Vestimmung der Aequivalentdosis (Rem-Counter)bzw. Aequivalentdosisleistung von Neutronen besteht aus einem Detektor (3He-Zaehlrohr), einer daran anliegenden Absorberschicht (Kadmium) und einer aeusseren Moderatorschicht (Polyaethylen der Wandstaerke von 3.81cm bis 5.08 cm). Der Detektor ist ueber Vor- und Hauptverstaerker mit einem Spannungsdiskriminator verbunden. Seine Spannungsschwelle liegt bei 825keV. Ist auf einer Seite des Detektors nur die Kadmiumschicht vorgesehen, so kann das Geraet als Albedo-Personendosimeter verwendet werden. (DG)Files
