Influence of temperature on the anodization of zircaloy-2 in 0.1 M potassium tartarate

Description
The influence of temperature on the kinetics of anodization of zircaloy-2 in 0.1 M potassium tartarate have been studied at a constant current density of 4 mA.cm-2 and at various temperatures ranging from 278 to 323 K. The rate of anodic film formation (dV/dt), the current efficiency (η), the differential field of formation (F) and the ionic current density (ij) were calculated. It was found that all these parameters were decreased with increase of temperature. The induction period was increased with the increase of temperature. It was also determined the half jump distance(α) from the plot of log ij vs F/T and found to be 0.675 A. (author)
