Description
We study the ground and excited states of 12C employing variational calculations after spin-parity projection in the framework of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). The calculations systematically reproduce various experimental data. We find that the sub-shell closure and SU(3)-limit 3α cluster components are contained in the ground state, while various 3α cluster structures develop in the excited states. We show the importance of α-cluster breaking in the 3α cluster states as well as the ground state. (author)
