Cryogenic concept of the Berline Energy Recovery Linac Project
- 1. Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, Berlin (Germany)
Description
The Helmoholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is currently in the design process of the Berline Energy Recovery Linac Project (BERLinPro) as a demonstrator of ERL science and technology. The accelerator itself consists of three main parts: an SRE photo-injector, three superconducting booster cavities and three main linac cavities. The operating temperature will be at 1.8 K. The corresponding subatmospheric pressure of 16 mbar will be achieved by pumping with a set of cold compressors and warm vacuum pumps. Liquid helium at 4.5 K necessary for the cooling of the accelerator cavity structure, HOM and RF couplers is supplied by a Linde L700 helium liquefier. A helium distribution system with several transfer lines and valve boxes has to be designed. The conceptual design of the cryogenic system and supply lines are being described. (author)
