Study of the 9Be(n,2n) reaction at 14 MeV

  • 1. Laboratoire de Physique Nucleaire de l'Universite et Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Grenoble (France)

Description

The authors studied the 9Be(n,2n) reaction using double time-of-flight spectrometry, and found that it takes place mainly through the formation of 9Be* resonance states (6.76 and 7.94 MeV). The contribution of the direct process 8Be + n1 + n2 is small in spite of the weak binding (1.66 MeV) of the peripheral neutron p3/2 in the 9Be, compared with the incident energy En = 14.5 MeV. Measurements made at Φ1 = - Φ2 = 30o, 60o, 80o and at Φ1 = 30o, Φ2 =-15o show anisotropy of the (n,2n) reaction, predominantly towards the forward angles. (author)

Abstract (French)

(author)
