A new technetium-99m-EDTA complex production technique for renal studies

  • 1. Iraq Atomic Energy Commission, Baghdad. Nuclear Research Inst.

Description

The aim of this study was to investigate a method of labelling EDTA with sup(99m)Tc using cuprous ions in the mixture, since the reduction potential of Cu1+/Cu2+ is 0.153 V which is similar to that for the Sn2+/Sn4+ system which has already been used. The labelling kinetics and the formation rate of the sup(99m)Tc-Cu-EDTA complex was studied using the gel chromatography column scanning technique (GCS). The organ distribution and the blood clearance of the complex in rats were also demonstrated. (UK)
