The subcellular localisation of a glucronyltransferase involved in glucuronxylan biosynthesis in pea (Pisum sativum) epicotyls
Description
The subcellular location of glucuronyltransferase (GT) involved in glucuronoxylan biosynthesis in pea (Pisum sativum) has been investigated continuous and discontinuous sucrose-density gradient centrifugation. The densities of membranes from different organelles were determined by locating on the gradients their specific marker enzymes; namely NADH-cytochrome c-reductase for endoplasmic reticulum, Triton A-100-activated IDPase and Glucan synthetase I for Golgi apparatus and Glucan synthetase II for plasma membrane. GT activity (both in the presence and absence of UDP-D-xylose) was found to be located in the Golgi apparatus. l6 refs. (author)
