Development of superalloys for the intermediate heat exchanger of the HTGR in Japan
- 1. National Research Inst. for Metals, Tokyo (Japan)

Description
Five alloys in 1973 and six alloys in 1975 were proposed by the steel manufacturers and metal companies as candidate superalloys for intermediate heat exchanger of HTGR in Japan. Various tests were carried out on these alloys by the companies which proposed the alloys and by National Research Institute for Metals. Creep rupture tests in air and impure helium, and corrosion tests in impure helium etc. carried out by National Research Institute for Metals, played an important role for evaluating these alloys. At the end of 1979, it was shown that the two Ni-Cr-W type alloys would satisfy the targets which had been set for the development. (author)
