Role of pump statistics in a micromaser

Description

The photon statistics of one-photon micromaser have been studied by considering the effect of the statistical properties of the pumping mechanism. The equation of motion for the radiation field takes into account the pumping statistics which is valid for different pump mechanisms. An exact solution for the photon distribution function is presented and the behavior of the mean number of photon number fluctutions is studied for different values of pump parameter P. It is found found that by taking into account the pumping statistics, up to 30% reduction in noise can be achieved. (author)
