Effect of oxygen on radiation-chemical destruction of anion-exchange resins
Description
The effect of oxygen on the radiation-chemical destruction of swollen anionites: AV-17, AMP, VP-3a, Amberlite IR-410, Amberlite-45 AN-1, AN-9, AN-2F, AV-16, EDE-10, was studied. It was established that at a dose of 108 rad processes of radiation destruction of resins are enhanced in the presence of oxygen. It is shown that the main processes leading to radiation ageing of anion-exchange resins are the destruction of the anion-exchange groups, the rupture of the main chains and curing units, and the oxidation of the polymer carcas. The effect of water-dissolved oxygen on anionite radiolysis must be taken into account in design and utilization of ion-exchange filters operating in ionizing-radiation fields
