Description
In this study, we experimentally examined the vibration response characteristics of two tandem circular cylinders which have same or different structural damping. Experiments were carried out with inline tandem cylinders in a water channel with two degree-of-freedom. The cylinders were cantilever mounted with a low natural frequency in the inline and cross-flow directions. The oscillating frequency of the cylinder and the surrounding flow were measured simultaneously using Dynamic PIV. As a result, in the case of different vibration property, oscillating frequency of downstream cylinder was predominantly influenced by that of upstream cylinder. (author)
