Rf and space-charge effects in laser-driven rf electron guns
Description
The evolution of the electron-beam phase space distribution in laser-driven rf guns is studied by taking into account both the time variation of the rf field and space-charge effects. In particular, simple formulas are derived for the transverse and longitudinal emittances at the exit of the gun. The results are compared and found to agree well with those from simulation. (orig.)
