Radioactive trace gases and their effect on climate
Description
Atmospheric krypton-85 as such is capable of influencing climate via radiation-chemical reactions and atmospheric-electric effects. In the light of current knowledge, radiaton-chemical reactions are irrelevant. A comparison of the contributions of vertical atmospheric flow of electricity and insolation suggests that the atmospheric-electric processes do not influence climate. However, a limiting concentration for Kr-85 of 100 Bq/m3 should be observed. (DG)

Grundsaetzlich koennte Kr-85 in der Atmosphaere das Klima ueber strahlenchemische Reaktionen und luftelektrische Effekte beeinflussen. Vom heutigen Wissensstand aus gesehen, spielen strahlenchemische Reaktionen keine Rolle. Ein Vergleich der Leistungen von luftelektrischem Vertikalstrom und Sonneneinstrahlung deutet darauf hin, dass die luftelektrischen Vorgaenge keinen Einfluss auf das Klima haben. Eine Grenzkonzentration von Kr-85 von 100 Bq/m3 sollte jedoch eingehalten werden. (DG)Additional details
