Introduction to Majorana masses
Description
A pedagogical review of Majorana masses and Majorana's theory of two-component massive fermions is presented. The difference between Majorana and Dirac masses is discussed and it is shown that Majorana masses are fermion-number violating. The connection between Majorana and Weyl spinors is discussed and it is shown that the massive Majorana and Weyl field theories are equivalent. The second quantization of the massive Weyl theory is studied in detail. (author)
