Study on exchange current density of LaCl3 in LiCl-KCI molten salt

  • 1. KAIST, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

For the development of pyroprocessing technology electrochemical researches for thermodynamic and electrochemical data of the lanthanide and actinide elements have been progressed. However, the exchange current density, which is one of the major electrochemical parameters, has not yet been investigated precisely. In the present work, two different methods such as the Tafel plot and Nyquist plot were employed to determine the exchange current density of La(III) ion in LiCl-KCI molten eutectic salt at 773 K for the first time. The exchange current of La(III) in LiCl-KCI eutectic salt was investigated for the first time by the Tafel plot and the Nyquist plot. The exchange current densities from the Tafel plot and Nyquist plot were 0.0077 ± 0.0004 A/ cm2 and 0.077 ± 0.005 A/ cm2, respectively
