Application of inorganic membranes for purification of radioactive solutions

Description
Inorganic membranes, namely ceramic filtration elements MEMBRALOX and CeRAM INSIDE were applied for radioactive solution purification. The experiments were performed with non-active and with radioactive model solutions and original radioactive waste samples. Since decontamination factors in simple ultrafiltration process were rather low, for enhancement of UF separation effect different soluble polymers and cyanoferrates, binding radioactive ions were used. The complexing agents were tested in laboratory to establish the best conditions of the process. The experiments showed the significant increase of decontamination factors while the macromolecular ligands were added. The effectiveness of complexation by each complexing agent was strongly dependant on pH and alkali metals concentration. (author)
