A contribution to the study of the formation of mullite-zirconia composite by reactive sintering

Description

In this paper the densification behavior in the temperature range 1350-1550 sup(o)C has been studied by dilatometry. The changes in the microstructure as well as the phases present due to reactive sintering have been investigated by optical and scanning electron microscopic analysis and X-ray diffractometry. The influence of particle size distribution on the densification/reaction microstructure and thermal shock resistance have been evaluated by processing the initial mass under varying grinding conditions.
