HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) thermal spray of high corrosion-resistant coatings

Description
The problem of the technology of producing coatings which constitute an alternative to hard chromium is presented in the paper. Both advantages and disadvantages of the processes are presented as well as the coating materials applied, selected equipment and technological parameters of the thermal spray process and characteristics of the coatings produced. The alternative coatings of high corrosion and abrasion resistance were produced by HVOF spraying of WC-Co-Cr, WC-Cr3C2, NiCoCr and NiCr-Cr3C2 powders. Powders with chromium carbides were obtained by high-temperature synthesis. (author)
