Excitation functions for some nuclear reactions relevant to the cosmic ray propagation problem

Description
Cross sections have been measured for the production of a number of radionuclides from targets of O, Mg, Si, Fe and Ni irradiated by protons of 1, 2, 3 and 25 GeV. The results are discussed in connection with the 'asymptotic' energy at which nuclear cross sections (and thus cosmic ray secondary production) can be assumed to become constant. This energy is seen to depend on the mass of the target and the product being considered. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Fuer die Erzeugung einer Reihe von Radionukliden aus O-, Mg-, Si-, Fe- und Ni-Targets, die mit Protonen von 1, 2, 3 und 25 GeV bestrahlt wurden, sind Wirkungsquerschnitte gemessen worden. Die Ergebnisse werden in Zusammenhang mit der 'asymptotischen' Energie diskutiert, bei der nukleare Wirkungsquerschnitte (und somit die sekundaere Erzeugung kosmischer Strahlung) als konstant angenommen werden koennen. Man kann sehen, dass diese Energie von der Masse des Targets und dem betrachteten Produkt abhaengt. (orig.)Additional details
