Hardening of N23Kh5T3 steel by hydroextrusion

Description

Hardening of metastable steel N23Kh5T3 as a result of combined treatment, comprising hydroextrusion and ageing, has been studied. Mechanical properties after treatment and different methods of deformation are compared. Hydroextrusion of quenched samples is realized at normal temperature with 30% reduction in area. The samples are subjected to ageing at 600 deg C. Mechanical properties are determined at the temperatures from -196 to +20 deg C. It is shown that deformation by hydroextrusion and subsequent ageing of steel N23Kh5T3 ensure the obtaining of a high complex of strength and plasticity if as a result of ageing austenite acquires ability for martensitic transformation under tension. Rolling substitution for hydroextrusion permits to obtain a higher strength but lower ductility in steel N23Kh5T3
